Catching Up: We spotted Emily Guiza enjoying the 26 goal polo match on a Wednesday afternoon in March at International Polo Club. Also spied during the Open was Vaugh and Deena Miller, Vic and Francie Ramon and Joe and Terri Bishop. Those Texans get around.

Was Elizabeth Lorios snubbed this year? Or maybe she just prefers dressage. In any case, the gossips are whispering that after such a great year with her Lawrence Wallace team last season, winning the Outback 14 goal and the Dr. Billy Linfoot Most Improved Player Award from a field of over 100 players competing in the 2007 US Open, Izzie wasn't featured in Polo Players Edition story "Women at the Top" showcasing Floridahigh goal women. We hope Izzie misses the excitement and returns to polo soon! We know she kept some polo ponies85..

Remember Usman Dantata? He was a fantastic fellow, and played at PBPCC in the 'olden days' when the club was new. He survived an assassination attempt on his life years ago, and now lives in Kano, Nigeria. He is paralyzed and doesn't get about much, but our new correspondent from Africa, Terri Brennan saw him at the club recently, and was very touched that the Sidelines staff from the US would have asked after him.

Polo player Adnan Sardar has a team of young upcoming players from Pakistan visiting the USA, and staying with him. They plan to play in Santa Barbara this coming season. Also staying for the summer is Adnan's nephew, Ahmad Ali Tiwana an Oxford University student who is handicapped at 3, but rumored to play up to 4, competed in the World Cup representing Pakistan. Ahmad said he could've played in England for Lord Horswell but he wanted to get US Polo exposure.

Randy Russell checked in to say that Lamborghini recently called Polo America and asked if he would put together a polo event for them in Scottsdale, Arizona. Randy said he'd agreed to do the event if they made it a fundraiser for the families of our Service Men and Women from Luke Air Force Base. They agreed and on April 20th there were eighty Lamborghinis at the Lamborghini Polo Classic. Festivities were compared to a three ring circus. As guests arrived there were six hot air balloons for tether rides. At 12:00 the three best chefs in Scottsdale were on stage for a battle of the chefs competition. The real winners are the four hundred plus guests who got to sample their creations. The ladies went head to head with the men in a Strip Polo Game, where a mare or gelding was stripped at the end of the game.
