Posh party: Amaryllis Farm benefit chairs, Sale Johnson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Steven Klein and Marcy Warren

Dressage:

Gwyneth Paltrow and Steven Klein hosted the benefit for Amaryllis Farm Rescue at Steven Klein's estate that was all the talk. Seems that Robert Dover rode an exhibition on a rescued horse that has come a long way, and is reportedly up for sale for a million dollars. (We do love happy rescue stories!) The non-horsey attendees were horrified when the horse drooled all over the pianist's clothing.. horse-folk tried to explain that horses foaming/frothing is a good thing, means they are on the bit...but they didn't get it)! The event did raise over $200,000 so we suppose a dry cleaning bill was worth it.

Since this is the Equestrian Artists issue, it's only fair that we give Gisela Pferdekaemper a plug: She's now exhibiting her work at Lydia del Rossi's Equine Divine in Aiken, and causing quite a stir. If you're not familiar with her whimsical big white horses in old time bathing suits gossiping - gotta see 'e for yourself.

Eventing: Eurospy has had her ear to the ground in England, and says she's learned that William Fox Pitt will not be riding Olympic Eventing Team bronze medal winner Parkmore Ed again. Reportedly there have been tensions between William and owner Philip Adkins for some time. Parkmore Ed has reportedly already taken up residence at Andrew Nicholson's yard. Andrew's long term partner is of course William's ex-wife 'Wiggy'. So old rivalries are still being fanned. Catherine Witt of Rookery Hall has purchased Sea Cookie, previously ridden by Ingrid Klimke for William Fox Pitt. (Purchase price? A reputed A3500,000)

Oliver Townsend and Piggy French the young event riders have gone their separate ways and are now operating out of yards just a few miles away from each other. However it is anticipated that Oli is moving his operation to the Welsh/Shropshire border to the old base of an Equestrian Surface manufacturer.

Horses: We regret that we have to report the legendary Holsteiner Stallion Le Santo was euthanized August 3 from complications from an injury. Le Santo was very well known for being one the highest bonited stallions in the United States, as well as being a leading sire for more than two decades...
