Catching Up: Congratulations to Miranda Cadwell and Hillary Dobbs, who were the stars at Hong Kong Night, a USET Foundation fundraiser in Wellie-world. Miranda was presented with Whitney Stone Cup, and the Lionel Guerrand-Hermes Trophy, went to Hillary.

Classic Communications owner, Marty Bauman spent some time in Wellington during the Winter Equestrian Festival. He stayed with PMG owner Mason Phelps and they are making some big plans for the future - who knows what these two are up to, but we do know they have been best friends for over 35 years and they are sure to have some big news!

On the subject of Mason et al, he tells us that Phelps Sports.com has a busy spring schedule what with Jennifer Wood heading off to Europe to cover the show jumping World Cup finals and former Sidelines editor Mary Hilton making the trip across the pond to the dressage World Cup finals. We're expecting great coverage. But you knew that.

Whooo hoo! Congratulations to West Coaster Richard Spooner! He scored his 100th Grand Prix win recently at HITS THERMAL, riding Ezrah. We might say Richard's making a habit of this!

ARIAT could no have chosen a better spokesperson than Georgina Bloomberg! She met with their design team and had fun trying on different items from the line and giving advice as to what active, stylish riders need. She would know.

And speaking of the horse-fashion industry, Hank Vogel recently celebrated his 80th birthday. His clever wife created a special golf tournament for Hank and his golfing friends as her present to him! I'm sure he was the envy of the golf crowd with a wife who'd do that for him.

Horses: Canada's Eric Lamaze Pan Am mount returned to the competition ring recently after undergoing abdominal surgery last October. Hickstead is spending the winter in Wellington, and will be competing in the 1.4 meter division, initially, a lower division than he would normally compete in. He is beginning a progressive return to major grand prix in time to make a bid for Canada's Olympic team.
