Catching up: The "100 Grand Prix Victory Club" welcomed Richard Spooner and his mare Ezrah. Who captured the blue ribbon in the $25,000 Ariat Grand Prix at HITS Thermal. The Desert Circuit's all-time leading money winner, our boy is now only the second rider in the United States to secure 100 Grand Prix triumphs! (Margie Engle was the first.)
The talk still continues over the USET Foundation's participation in the Rose Parade on January 1st. The party line now is that the road to Hong Kong (site of the equestrian events at the Olympics) began in Pasadena, California on Colorado Blvd.
Eurospy reports that at the recent Olympia Show John Whitaker was asked if the family were introducing some height into their family breeding program. (Robert's girlfriend is definitely a good bit taller.) The laconic answer came back "Naw, we just wanted someone tall enough to put the bridle on Finbarr". Finbarr is Robert's tall leggy chestnut Puissance partner.
We are sorry to learn that Caroline Moran will be leaving the show ring. Caroline is selling all her horses, Wellington properties and giving herself a much needed break from the show world. We hope that someday she will be back. Good luck Caroline with whatever the future holds for you.
Our Mutt of the Month guys, Ron Danta and Danny Robershaw were honored by the ASPCA for their commitment to making a difference in the lives of the dogs and cats left homeless by Hurricane Katrina at a lunch at the Special Events Pavilion at WEF in February. We're proud of you both!
Michael and Luke Tokaruk finally made the trek to Florida for the winter season, and say that Wellie-world is all that it was reported to be. We admit it gets some getting used to, but definitely Florida is the place to be, January through March.
Congratulations to Paul Long who is starting a new job with the USET Foundation as Assistant Director of Development reporting to Bonnie Jenkins. What a great new asset for the team, and best of luck to Paul.
