Catching Up: Paris Hilton stopped in Dallas on her 10 city movie promotion in late January. Among VIP guests were polo player Vaughn Miller, wife Dena and daughter Jade. Paris arrived 45 minutes late to a crowd of 'tweens and teens standing in freezing cold weather outside the theatre to catch a glimpse of her. Camera phones were raised high in the air as they screamed her name. After posing on the red carpet, Paris introduced her movie and took a seat four rows back from the Millers to observe the movie goers reaction. The acting was not awful as we'd anticipated at all and the movie was very funny in places and had a good message. Though Paris was very gracious, allowing fans to get photos with her, her "entourage" of thug-looking boys that she brought with her from L.A. were quite obnoxious!

"Perhaps Dominic should invest in a face-guard before he goes out to the Player's Club on a Sunday night, or at least take a lesson from the Three Stooges, nyuk nyuk nyuk!"

Teen heartthrob Cody Linley, best known in his recurring role as Jake Ryan in the hit Disney TV series Hannah Montana, spent a busy weekend "horsing around" in Wellington recently. Cody's appearance at International Polo Club Palm Beach, included signing autographs, posing for photos and handling the pre-game coin toss with aplomb prior to the season's opening match. He watched most of the first chukker with award-winning actor and polo player Tommy Lee Jones. On Saturday, Cody took his first polo lesson from professional player Juan Salinas and later attended a dinner in his honor.
Barry Stout of Roaring Fork Polo Club says he's snowed in but good; at least conditions were good for his annual snow polo tournament! "Barry was supposed to play in Barbados and then Argentina but with all this snow he says he needs the weather to break so he can travel and promote the event for next season.

Scott Lancaster has wasted no time in the PR department since taking on his new job as manager of San Diego Polo Club. We saw more about San Diego Polo in polo magazines and reports last year than we have in a long time. Alan Peppard mentioned that Scott has already asked him to come up and guest announce a polo match whenever he's in the area. Scott happens to know that the Peppards vacation in San Diego enough that they are members of the SD Country Club. Good thinking, Scott!

Tim Gannon has joined Florida's Hobe Sound Polo Club as a Founding Member and as a member of its Board of Directors. And to think, we thought Tim was going out of polo!

Oscar Bermudez urges everyone (especially those who speak Spanish) to check out the Univision videos of interviews at his new polo facility, Santa Anita.

Erin O'Brian is at it again. She had over 60 people at her birthday tail gate a Royal Palm Polo on January 6.

Jackie Dorbritz, wife of polo player Alan Dorbritz, says she started her polo watching at the top. "I love polo and especially in Palm Beach! My first game was at the US Open and had a cocktail party at Skey Johnson's house. What a way to start!" All we can say is we hope this season will be just as special.

Philip Zocco checked in recently to say he'd had a blast participating in the North Scottsdale Polo Club's New Years Tournament. Everyone he met was so jazzed about his being there and participating. Orlando Garrido did an outstanding job organizing the tournament and ensuring that Philip got the full Arizona experience. Moving soon, big guy?

San Francisco Polo Club president, Alexander Anolik, has posted on their website, www.sanfranciscopoloclub.com an amazing collection of polo ties and antique/vintage magazine prints with polo themes. Alex has been saving these ads for about 30 years now, and has basically run out of wall space, so he thought posting them on the website would give an indication of how the polo theme was a part of the early promotions in the 20's and 30's. The avid polo fan will love these! Thanks for sharing, Al!

Get Well Soon: Rich Schallmo has been diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer of the lymph nodes. Of the cancers to catch, this is the most curable, we're told, and Rich is doing a very aggressive round of chemo, so we know he'd like a card or note to cheer him on. Rich says Betsy is finally getting to boss him around....we believe that, right?

New Baby Department: Polo pro Isidro Olivas and wife Jan welcomed their second child, first son, Antonio Giuseppe Olivas to the world on November 26. He weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces. They will be calling him Tony in honor of our beloved quarterback from the Dallas Cowboys.

On the baby front- well, sort of John and Liz Gleeson had a surprise Christmas present when their pregnant mare, not due until mid January, delivered her foal on Christmas Eve under the full moon!

Is it true? We heard via the grapevine that Bombardier is not returning as a sponsor in Florida this year. Too bad! They have been great supporters of polo in Florida, Texas and California for several years. If any of you jet setting polo players buy a plane from them, they'd probably come back. Sponsors are a necessity in making the expensive sport of polo more affordable, so please, do business with polo sponsors!!! . . . If you want to see all the text and photos subscribe!
