Charities and Clinics: "What could sound more fun or fitting than roasting George Morris and Jessica Ransehausen for their 70th birthdays! That's exactly what the Equestrian Aid Foundation will be doing at the International Polo Club on February 26th. The room will be very elegant, even as the fabulous stars (think the girls of the '84 Olympic Team ..... and Tab Hunter!) put our two icons on a pair of skewers, all with love and in fun! This will be "the event" not to miss of the season! Watch for the invitations and ads coming out soon or contact Robert Dover (RDover2@aol.com or (561) 758-6186) for more information on tables. They will go fast!

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society announces its 2008 "Equestrian of the Year" fundraiser! Sue Ashe, our 2007 "Equestrian of the Year," did an amazing job raising over $52,000.00 in honor of her friend Mindy Darst. Anyone wishing to register to raise money for the Society and vie for the 2008 title should contact Darby Collins at the Society office at (888) 478-8550 ext. 14 or Mary Ann Grant at (561) 301-5817. The winner will be announced at the February 7th cocktail party and silent auction to be held at The Golf House, Palm Beach Polo Club. Tickets will be $75.00 and can be purchased by calling the Society office.

The Dutch Warmblood Studbook of North America has a great lineup of speakers at its 20th Annual Meeting to be held in Wellington on March 6-8. Harrison, Faith Fessenden, Jacques Verkerk and KWPN Director Johan Knaap. Members and non-members are welcome for all events. The cost is just $150 for all three days for pre-registered members or $200 for non-members and walk-ins. A full schedule and sign-up forms will be available in January at the website www.kwpn-na.org.

The same weekend, Cetty Weiss's ever-popular Junior Young Riders clinic (March 7-9) will be taking place. Clinicians are Steffen Peters, Anne Gribbons, Dr. Gordan from Purina, Mary Phelps, Roberta Williams and Kathy Connelly. The clinic will be in White Fences at Mary Anne McPhail's. As always, auditors are welcome. For more info, contact Cetty at chiroweiss1@aol.com

Driving: We recently learned that Fair Hill International has voted not to host a Combined Driving Event at the Dansko Fair Hill International when it returns to the Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area in Fair Hill, MD, October 16-18, 2008. The board made the decision with great reluctance at the recommendation of Fair Hill International co-president Lana Wright. While Wright reported to the Board that the National Advanced Combined Driving Championships held at Fair Hill in 2007 were very successful, the event was suffering from a recent trend of low entries in its driving divisions.

Catching Up: Robert Dover checked in, saying he's spent most of December planning his mother's 80th birthday for around 100 family members and friends, on Dec. 30th! If that wasn't enough, Robert was hip-deep putting on "The 1st Annual Equestrian Aid Foundation/Ride For Hope Celebrity Roast." The party, half "Dean Martin Roast, half "This Is Your Life", will be at the International Polo Club, thanks to the very generous donation by John Goodman!

Sho Clothes has a taken space in Wellington's Fashion District. They have a new showroom in the Taj Mahal on Fairlane Farms Road, near Pierson, not far from Polo Gear, Jon Polo and Beyond the Barn. But no worries, the ever popular Sho Clothes boutique will still be dividing time between the shows and the International Dressage Academy (IDA) in Little Ranches - so the addition of the new location will not interrupt anyone's shopping plans! Meanwhile Sho Clothes is gearing for several Sho season celebrations. They are hosting the Season Kick-off party at The Wellington Classic and the Dance Your Breeches Off dance contest at the Gold Coast CDI Opener.
